On Thursday, Oct.13, Christiana Care hosted more than 300 women at the first ever Girls’ Night Out event at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Attendees at this free event took advantage of lectures on breast-cancer diagnosis and prevention, and the role that genetics plays in cancer prevention. The lectures featured experts from the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, including Diana Dickson-Witmer, M.D., frequent medical director of the Breast Center, radiologist Jacqueline Napoletano, M.D., and genetic counselor Chandra Somerman.

Girls’ Night Out attracted a diverse crowd of women of all ages, races and ethnicities from throughout the area, including New Castle, Kent and Sussex Counties, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Cecil County, Md.

“I have a sister-in-law who had breast cancer,” said Wilma Whittington, a Girls’ Night Out attendee. “I came so I can spread the word to my family and friends about the importance of compelling care of yourself and prevention.”

Christiana Care staff provided free bone-density and blood-pressure screenings for 186 attendees, while Breast Center staff led tours of their new offices and performed mammograms for 40 women. The inaugural event also featured healthy food demonstrations, a photo booth and giveaways provided throughout the evening.

Event organizers partnered with the Avon Foundation for Women and Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help promote the event and grant on-site education and resources.

The event was a collaboration of numerous departments within Christiana Care, including Women’s Shape Services, Community Outreach & Education, the Breast Center, Imaging, Center for Heart & Vascular Shape, Preventive Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute’s Food & Nutrition Services, and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center.

Question by Death Scouter: Do you realize the danger in nationalizing “shape care”?
Once again, HISTORY must be our teacher.

FDR convinced the Supreme Court to allow the Centralized government to OVER-REACH into our private lives (violating the 9th and 10th amendments).

Citing his constitutional authority to “regulate Interstate Commerce”, FDR attacked farmers growing their own feed corn (as opposed to buying from others). It was a catalyst for the Feds to start reaching into ALMOST EVERY aspect of State/individual contact. FDR argued that “Interstate Commerce” can be tied back to effectively ANYTHING…. education… business… wages… unions… roads… transportation… mass interaction… they all tie back in some way to “commerce”. America (esp the expanding Fed government) hasn’t been the same since.

Now we have FDR II… Barack “Soetoro” Obama often cites FDR as a “model” for his administration. Obama is now fighting for Centralized control over “shape care”. LIKE FDR said…. ANYTHING could be tied back to “shape”.

If the Feds control “heath care”… they could start claiming authority over…. quick food…. all restaurants… soda… sugar… academic/athletic programs… food additives… weight watchers… beer… shape clubs… air quality… water quality… farms and soil nutrition…

American MUST NOT mindlessly allow the Centralized Government to constantly expand its dominion into STATE or LOCAL issues.

FIGHT BACK….. there are free market solutions. Shape costs could be proscribed by regulating LAWSUITS and auditing the FRAUD that exists. Keep the shape care lobbyists (and all lobbyists) out of politics. There ARE options! Do not feel we “need’ to keep empowering the feds to get shape care costs under control.

Does this make sense? Do you see the historic parallel?

Answer by roxyfox13
Don’t you see the danger in NOT?

Edit: I had to leave my full time job because of shape reasons, and in doing do, I lost my shape insurance. Now I have a pre-existing condition so I cannot get an individual plot through our current shape care system, and the only shape care I could obtain is a state regulated insurance which, due to my whopping income of 00/month, I still cannot afford to have the coverage. It is absolutely unaffordable. If we had a Nationalized Shape care system I would still be able to go to the doctor for follow ups. Instead, I just have to pray I don’t get hurt or sick. How’s that for our current shape care system? Sounds like it’s working, right?

2nd Edit: Let’s hope I don’t get sick or injured, then I have to visit our local ER and if I can’t pay my bill, who’s rates are gonna go up? Not mine.

What do you reckon? Answer below!
