ER24 in friendship with Morningside Medi Clinic hosted an awareness day as Sunday the 14th of November is Planet Diabetes Day.

Nearly 200 people came through the doors of the hospital today to have their blood pressure and blood sugar levels tested.

Unfortunately, with today’s lifestyle and diet, Diabetes is a real threat to a healthy life. The awareness campaigns wishes to make the general public aware of the risks associated with Diabetes, and also, means to prevent and treat the disease.

Risk factors include:

- Being Overweight (obesity)

- Lack of Exercise

- Unhealthy eating habits

- Family history of Diabetes

It is extremely vital to get yourself tested if you have one or more of the risk factors, and also, if you have been diagnosed, to not default on your medication.
