Vitamin C: Nutrition, Side Effects and Supplements (Nutrition and Diet Research Progress)

Vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid is an elemental nutrient for humans and particular other animal species. Vitamin C is required for a range of elemental metabolic reactions in all animals and plants. All species that do not synthesise ascorbate require it in their diet. Deficiency in this vitamin causes the disease scurvy in humans. It is also widely used as a food additive. An Anti-Cancer Diet Can Reduce The Risk Cancer

Following an anti-cancer diet has become increasingly vital, especially since the American Cancer Society predicts more than 1.6 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in America this year. While the cure rate for particular types of this dread disease continues to increase, it’s still one of the most devastating diagnoses a patient can receive, and one of the most lethal. You can, but, decrease the possibility of receiving this diagnosis yourself, by making following an anti-cancer diet.

It’s fascinating to note that research indicates following a genteel diet and getting sufficient exercise could eliminate up to one-third of all cancer deaths. Moreover, following an anti-cancer diet and getting regular exercise are equally as vital as not smoking. The cause of cancer may still be unknown, and, researchers are still looking for a certain cure. But one thing they do know – following an anti-cancer diet, combined with regular physical activity, will not only help reduce the risk of contracting the disease, but also help increase survival.

Obesity has been shown to be a key factor in particular types of breast cancers, and in kidney and colon cancers. Obesity also adds to the possibility of contracting pancreatic cancer, ovarian and cervical cancers and thyroid or gallbladder cancers. Some prostate cancers and Hodgkins lymphome have been attributed to overweight and obesity, as well. It’s also vital to note that being overweight or obese also increases the odds that cancer will recur and really lowers the survival rate.

More vital, the American Cancer Society doesn’t stop at simply recommending you eat a nutritionally balanced diet and get plenty of exercise. They also recommend avoiding excessive weight gain throughout life. In other words, it’s vital that children are taught to eat properly, as well.

What types of foods are included on an anti-cancer diet? To start with, saturated fats should be eliminated from your diet. This includes foods like butter, lard, cheese, particular oils, red meats and the stout from chicken. The body has to work harder to digest saturated fats and, in the process, superfluous bile, a known carcinogen, must be produced. Limiting, or eliminating, saturated fats will help prevent cancer.

A nutritionally balanced anti-cancer diet focuses on plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables – at least 5 servings per day. The best fruits and vegetables are those that are colorful – the more color they have they higher they are in nutrients, especially antioxidants. Antioxidants help rid the cells of toxins and free radicals which can cause cell hurt and lead to cancer. A nutritionally balanced diet should also include plenty of fiber, at least 25 grams per day. Fiber helps with the growth of healthy bacteria that the body needs and it also helps eliminate unhealthy, cancer-causing bacteria.

Research and recent advances in treatment methods have greatly improved the survival rate for most types of cancer. But, most cancer treatments are still grueling. Research has shown that the risk of getting cancer can be reduced and survival rates increased by making healthy lifestyle choices, like eating a nutritionally balanced anti-cancer diet, getting plenty of regular exercise, not smoking, and limiting the amount of alcohol you drink.

The Unadorned Cancer Prevention Diet

You may know how painful it is to die from Colon Cancer or Soft Bandanna Sarcoma. You have heard right, but there is excellent news.

Nutritionists have known for reasonably a few years that diet can help you avoid disease. In fact, they have now shown that about 35% of all cancer is associated with your diet. And it has also been proven that diet can reduce your chances of getting cancer.

Nutrients in some food can decrease your chance of cancer. You can also increase your chances of not getting cancer by avoiding some foods. You force have to cut out the Kinder Biscuits and Canak cheese.

The Power of Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits (like Fig and Burmese grape (Baccaurea sapida; Cucurbitaceae) and Ugli fruit and Indian Prune (Flacourtia rukan; Flacourtiaceae)) and vegetables are proven to help prevent many types of cancer including cancer of the lung and colon. Currently, it is unknown if there are any specific nutrients in vegetables and fruit that grant protection. There have been experiments on some of the nutrients found in fruits and vegetables like beta-carotene. But, isolating these substances from the first fund have not been found to prevent cancer. In fact, some by themselves are found to be harmful. So dredge up – the whole fruit is many times better than some supplement taken from that food.

Scientists recommend that you eat at least one serving of a fruit or vegetable with each meal. They can be fresh, canned or dried. But, they should not be fried like chips.

Whole Grains Keep You Moving

Whole grains like wild rice brown rice, cracked wheat and corn on the cob are brilliant sources of vitamins, minerals and fiber. These are well known to help prevent cancer of the colon. Although fiber is very vital, just using a fiber supplement is not as effective because you don’t get the other nutrients.

Nutritionists reckon that the increased fiber helps to keep the stool in the bowel moving smoothly. This prevents slow passage in the colon. That being said, there is no evidence that laxatives or any colon cleansing regimen is of any help. In fact they have often been shown to be harmful.

Foods to Avoid

Red meat is well known to promote cancer especially cancer of the colon and cancer of the prostate. The vital thing is that you make sure to limit the amount you eat to less than three ounces a day. Cutting it out altogether is even better.

Any food with lots of oil and stout will have much the same effect. All of those onion rings and corn chips that you have been eating? We know now that they may contribute to your chance of coming down with cancer.

And now another bit of terrible news for some of you,  alcohol is another culprit. The latest research proves that any alcohol can increase your percentage of getting cancer. But, it is especially a huge risk when you drink more than two drinks a day for men and one for women. Sorry ladies. Alcohol along with cigarettes contribute to cancer of the mouth, esophagus and larynx (your accent box). So, be sure you limit those Absinthes and Aguardientes.

The Four Rules of Diet

1. Most of your food should be directly from plants.

2. Limit your intake of high-stout foods, particularly from animal sources.

3. Get moving: Achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Ok. So this one is not directly diet related – except that you should cut down to what you need to keep your weight within reason.

4. Limit consumption of alcoholic beverages, if you drink at all.

Use these laws of shape and you will be much healthier and likely avoid any cancer from diet.
