My baby turned 4 months on the 13th. I recently went to her 4 month check-up and had of course a 1,000 questions because I am a 1st time mom and this is a turning point in her developement. My doctor was on vacation, so I had to see a different doc. I questioned about breastfeeding at night. She usually wakes up at 1am and 3am to feed, but then goes right back to bed. I have a sleeping preside over for her next to my bed. The doc said I needed to stop feeding at night because it was unecessary and I was going to make my child “Obese”. She said that nobody needs to eat 2 times a night and she is getting alot of uneccessary calories. Most babies at this age should be sleeping through the night and don’t eat. I clarified that she just turned 4 months and I didn’t want to just say, sorry kid, ur cut off cuz your 4mths now! I am also having a hard time transitioning her to a bottle. I go to school at night for 4 hours and she will not eat from a bottle. I tried last night to not feed her during the night….. Let’s just say that it was a ROUGH night. I gave in at 1am and fed her because I could not cool her down but at 3am I had to let her sit and weep it out and I fell asleep through it do to exhaustion. Any advice on this theme would be helpful. I know she force be throwing a tantrum as the doc told me, but there has to be an simpler way than this!! I should have questioned the doc, “So, how did you do when you did this to your kids?? She does know how to self sooth and fall asleep by sucking on her thumb. The doc says she is just waking up out of habit and I better break it soon. I have two months. I don’t want to ruin her and make it hard to go to her crib, but I don’t know how many nights I can endure of listening to my baby weep.

It is perfectly reasonable and normal for your 4 month ancient to still want to nurse a few times at night.
Just get up and feed her, much more pleasant for everyone.
